The history of this suite
The Canadiana Suite is built into the upper structure of the original house, and the framing was left visible rather than boxed in: hand-cut pine rafters overhead, stone where the old exterior wall used to be.
The design follows early Canadiana: plain, sturdy, warm woods, and very little ornament. The sleeping loft sits above the living space, reached by its own staircase, which gives the suite two distinct floors rather than one open room.
