Experience
Brockville

Things to do in Brockville, from the oldest railway tunnel in Canada to an aquarium built around the St. Lawrence and the Thousand Islands out the front, nearly all of it within a few minutes’ walk of the front door.

01

3 min walk

The St. Lawrence Waterfront

Brockville grew up around this stretch of river, and the waterfront is still the centre of the town. Blockhouse Island reaches out into the harbour with benches, gardens and a clear view of the shipping channel. Freighters pass close enough to read their names.

02

6 min walk

Brockville Railway Tunnel

Bored through solid rock and opened in 1860, this is the oldest railway tunnel in Canada. It runs half a kilometre beneath the downtown and has been restored with a sound and light installation. You walk the full length of it, and it is free.

03

5 min walk

Aquatarium at Tall Ships Landing

A discovery centre on the waterfront built around the river itself: otters, sturgeon, shipwreck history and a view over the harbour from the upper floors. The best rainy-afternoon option in town, and a reliable one with children.

04

Departs from the harbour

1000 Islands Cruises

Sightseeing boats leave from the Brockville waterfront through the season and run out into the Thousand Islands: granite, pines, summer houses and a good deal of local history delivered over the rail.

05

2 min walk

Downtown Restaurants

King Street runs directly past the property and carries most of the town's independent kitchens, cafés and pubs. It is genuinely walkable. You will not need the car once it is parked.

06

6 min walk

Brockville Arts Centre

A restored heritage theatre a few blocks west, programming touring music, comedy and theatre through the year. Worth checking what is on before you book your dates.

07

From the front door

Walking & Cycling the Waterfront

The Brockville waterfront trail runs along the river in both directions from the harbour, flat and paved, past parks, marinas and the old rail lands. Pleasant on foot and easy on a bike.

Stay in the middle of it

Park once at Noble Suites and walk to all of it. Eleven historic suites, free on-site parking, and the St. Lawrence at the end of the street.
